HAPPY CHANUKAH!

Happy Chanukah!  I hope you are enjoying our Festival of Lights.  It is going by quickly – we are three-quarters of the way through Chanukah, as of today.  Only two more nights to go!

We have had wonderful Chanukah celebrations here at Temple this year.  It was great seeing so many people join us for “Chanukah on the Avenue” this past Friday.  We celebrated Chanukah altogether in a warm, welcoming, and safe atmosphere for all.  After lighting the outdoor menorah, we came inside for food and to wish each other a happy holiday.  Our festive, joyous, musical Shabbat of Chanukah Service followed in the sanctuary.  Thank to you everyone who helped make our celebration so special.  The festivities continued on Sunday morning with our Chavurah@Sinai students and families.  Everyone enjoyed as we lit the Chanukiah, sang songs, ate latkes and doughnuts, played games, danced, and more.

I especially want to thank our Temple Sinai Sisterhood who sponsored the latkes this past weekend and provided Chanukah candles for all of our students.

I also want to thank everyone who has donated to our Sinai Tzedek Project for this month.  We are continuing to collect NEW cold-weather apparel (coats, hats, gloves, socks, and blankets) for the New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter.  You can drop items off in the collection bin in the Temple lobby.  Thank you for your support!

As we light the last two candles of Chanukah, may they be a source of light, hope and pride, and may we be rededicated, like the Maccabees of old, to our faith, our Temple, and our people everywhere.  We celebrate our survival – AM YISRAEL CHAI – and look forward to better days ahead.

            Happy Chanukah!
